The main duty of a technician is to aid a pharmacist in their work. On the job, you will be responsible for handling prescriptions. You will have to receive them, read them and prepare the medications for patients. You will pick the right drug, count tablets and place them in containers. You will add prescription and instruction labels to the containers. All this will be done under the supervision of a pharmacist.
You will prepare medications, prescribed by physicians, as well. This is not particularly common nowadays, but you will certainly have such tasks in your work. You will have to weigh and measure the different ingredients and mix them. It is your responsibility to affix the relevant labels.
A lot of professionals have administrative duties as well. You will have to keep a record of the prescriptions you have received and handled.
